Breathwork and Yoga Breathing for Mediumship

  • by

Breathwork is the centerpiece for spiritual ascension and growth in many cultures. Through breathing, we become one with the universe. In this post, I’ll share some simple and powerful techniques from Yoga Breathing and shamanic practices. These breathing techniques will strengthen your bonds with Spirit and improve your mediumship skills.

Proper breathing is the most powerful thing you can do to raise your frequency.  Breathwork helps us vibrate closer to the Spirit World. It grounds us and keeps us safe as we open up to Spirit and unfamiliar energies. Breath exercises enhance mediumship training and psychic development.

Breathwork

Everything in nature breathes. Our breath links us to the universe. Different breathing techniques will teach us how to channel energies in and around our bodies. Here are a few exercises for you to try to improve your connection to the Spirit world.

Basic Long Deep Breathing

Most people are conditioned to breathe from their chest. This is a problem because you cut off a lot of the available energy. It opens you up to illnesses, low energy, and all that yucky stuff that you don’t want.

Long deep breathing is a foundational type of breathwork that can help you reprogram your breathing. It will help you begin to breathe holistically again.

Try this exercise for three to five minutes at a time.  Perform it two to four times per day.

1. Inhale from your diaphragm while filling your lungs
2. Hold for a second
3. Exhale and release

Over time, this technique is going to help you to stay balanced, strong, and calm. This is especially important today with all the challenges we’re facing.

Alternate Versions – Long Deep Breathing

Below are 2 alternative ways to perform long deep breathing.

Long Deep Breathing – Add an Intention

Adding an intention will make this form of breathing have a bigger impact.  Do it two to four times per day for three to five minutes for the best results.

  1. As you inhale, visualize the light and the love of the universe around you. Draw the energy in from the universe. Feel yourself breathing in love, light, and joy.
  2. As you exhale, release stress, worry, fear, anxiety, and other people’s energies. Let go of energy you don’t need anymore.

We exhale carbon dioxide our body doesn’t need. We can also exhale energy our spirit doesn’t need anymore.

Focus on Your Chakras – Long Deep Breathing

We have seven major chakras that run along our centerline. You can align your chakras with the chakra focused breathwork below. It will help ground you and keep you focused.

With this technique, you are inhaling the energy up from the earth.  Then it moves up through your body to the top of your head.  You then exhale down. This is a nice earth breath.

  1. As you inhale, imagine that you draw the energy from the earth through your feet.  Let it flow up the center of your body, through all your chakras.
  2. As you exhale, draw the energy back down into the earth.

If you want to get more connected to Spirit rather than more grounded, just reverse the process. The exercise below will ground you into Spirit.

  1. As you inhale, visualize beautiful light above you. Draw that light down through the top of your head, through your center, down through my legs, and into the earth.
  2. As you breathe out, send the energy back up to the universe.

Breathwork is important in practices like meditation and martial arts because our breath is our life. We can go four weeks without food.  Maybe four days without water. But four minutes without air becomes a problem.

Everything breathes. Our breath links us with the cosmos and is important for meditation.  Check out my video above to learn more about the importance of meditation for mediumship development.

Yoga Breathing

Yoga breathing is the foundation of all yoga. These techniques can help you relax, sleep better, and become more connected to Spirit. These practices will improve your mediumship skills.

Alternative Nostril Breathing

Alternative breathing is a yogic breath practice. It opens up your intuition and makes your message work stronger and better.

In this practice, you alternate breathing through each nostril. I teach a slightly modified version of it.  Follow these steps below to connect with your inner yogi. If you want to see a demonstration, please go to 4:54 timestamp in the video.

  1. Put a finger around your third eye area while closing off your right nostril.
  2. Take 11 deep breaths through your left nostril. The left side of the body connects with the right hemisphere of the brain. This is our imaging portion of the brain that connects us to the spirit world.
  3. Follow up with eight rounds of alternate breathing.
a. Close off your right nostril. Inhale.
b. Close off the left nostril. Exhale.
c. Switch again. This time inhale through your left nostril and exhale through your right nostril.

4. Follow up with a little bit of long, deep breathing.

5. Meditate and relax for a minute.

Kundalini Yoga Breathing

These last two breathes are from Kundalini Yoga.  The will help raise your vibration and help you be more balanced in life.

Breath of Fire

Another Yoga Breathing technique is the Breath of Fire. This type of breathwork will raise your energy. If you’re tired, do this for three minutes and you’ll feel a lot perkier. It also raises your energy before doing messages.

Breath of Fire is a moderate to fast-paced breath. Rapid breathing is not hyperventilating. When done properly, the inhale and the exhale are even. The breath comes from the diaphragm.

With this technique, you are pushing the air out and then drawing the air in. You can put your hands on your stomach to make sure you’re doing it properly as you learn. If you focus on the exhale, the inhale tends to happen automatically.

For this exercise, you need to be sure you are sitting up tall or standing. You can watch a demonstration at the 6:25 time mark in the video.

1. On the inhale, draw the air in.
2. Exhale, push the air out.

Sitali Breathing

The last breathing technique that you can do is called Sitali breathing. This is a cooling breath.  It’s great to help you cool down and relax after a long day.  It’s also a very grounding breath. It’s a really good one to help you to sleep.

Try this cooling breath for three minutes a day to help you relax and prepare for bed.

1. On the inhale, stick your tongue out and curl it. If you’re genetically non-disposable to tongue curling, just curl it as much as you can.
2. As you inhale, sip the air in like you’re sipping through a straw. Feel it cool your body’s just like you’re sipping the air in.

3. On the exhale, close your mouth and exhale through your nose.

Breathwork and Yoga Breathing Increase Mediumship Skills

These four breathing techniques will help you raise your energy, reduce stress, and help you have a restful night’s sleep.  They will also help you develop your mediumship skills.  If you know any breathing exercises that you want to share, please comment down below.
